About:

Lisa Whitten has been helping people find and share their story for more than twenty years. She is an improviser and storyteller originally from Waynesville, North Carolina.  She studied performance at Appalachian State University and has twice been awarded National Board Certification.  You can take her Storytelling classes at The PIT.

Becoming a Noble Gas is a one woman show told in six vignettes with me taking on over twenty characters. Noble gases are the only elements in the periodic table that are completely independent. They do not need to bond with any other element because they are whole in and of themselves. Growing up in North Carolina, Lisa watched women in her family subjugate themselves and their children for their abusive partners, and she promised herself that would never be her.

Lisa has been creating alternate universes and creatures in her mind her entire life.  She is making final edits to her gothic memoir entitled Burning Barbies, which blends two genres and relays the tale of a girl who uses a fantastic imagination to cope with a harsh reality.

Lisa lives in Washington Heights and has vowed to be the best dog mom ever to her pupper Freddie, who was named after Lisa’s first crush Freddie Mercury.

Currently, Lisa is making final edits to her gothic memoir Burning Barbies. You can see her storytelling show Becoming a Noble Gas on Socially Distant Improv or several of her short films on the The Sequestered Film Festival’s website.
